The construction material chosen for your self build will dictate the amount of energy used whilst living in your home. How that energy performance is delivered will also impact on running costs and the living space available internally. So, before you choose a build system, you need to think about how you want your house to perform.
It's worth noting that the more thermally efficient your house, the lower your energy costs. All three of the build systems we offer have high levels of thermal performance, so it's easier to think about it in terms of whether you want your new home to perform well, better, or best. For example, anyone wishing to achieve a Passivhaus level of thermal performance would need to select our structural insulated panel (SIPs) offering because they offer the best levels of airtightness. However, for those wishing to achieve a comfortable living space, either of our timber-frame build systems would be suitable.
