Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) are high-performance building panels used for walls, roofs and sometimes floors. Consisting of an insulating foam core bonded between two structural boards, typically OSB. SIPs provide excellent thermal efficiency, strength, and airtightness, making them a popular choice for energy-efficient and modern construction projects. Because they are precision-manufactured off-site, SIPs help reduce build times, minimize waste, and deliver consistent quality, making them ideal for residential, commercial, and extension projects.

The Kingspan TEK building system is a Structural Insulated Panel (SIPs) created using 15mm OSB and PUR insulation. Typically used to form external walls and roofs in residential and commercial projects.

Kingspan TEK panels are made in North Yorkshire, UK. Two 15mm OSB3 sheets are fed through a specialist laminator, the insulation is laid down on the bottom sheet in a liquid form. The chemicals in the insulation react with heat and expand to the desired depth, whilst auto-adhesively bonding to the OSB.

Kingspan TEK panels are supplied in 2 thicknesses 142 mm & 172 mm.  The raw boards are available in 4800 mm, 5500 mm, 6000 mm & 7500 mm lengths x 1220 mm wide.

U-values ranging from 0.19 - 0.09 W/m²K can be achieved using the Kingspan TEK system.

The Kingspan TEK Building System is highly flexible for modern residential and commercial projects, allowing large open-plan spaces, impressive glazing, and contemporary architectural forms when integrated with engineered timber or steel elements where required.

Yes, the external walls can be built with Kingspan TEK with a truss or rafter roof, or the external walls can be an alternative system and the roof can be constructed using TEK.

SIP (Structural Insulated Panel) homes are widely accepted by UK mortgage lenders when built using certified systems and approved construction methods. The Kingspan TEK systems BBA provides independant assurance to lenders.

Kingspan TEK buildings are recognised as a modern method of construction and can be financed through both standard residential and self-build mortgages, subject to lender criteria.

The cost of building using the Kingspan TEK SIPs System is very similar to using other methods of construction. The initial material cost is typically higher, but there are multiple cost benefits associated with building with TEK, an important one being the time saved when working on-site. Our SIPs panels are manufactured offsite in a quality-controlled environment meaning less labour will be needed on-site during the erection of the superstructure.  Added to this offsite construction provides you with assurances for programming your follow on trades.

We often arrange ‘Live Build’ events where you can visit a customer’s home in the construction stage. If you are interested in attending an event,  please get in touch via 'Contact us' 

In order for us to provide you with a quotation for your build we will need the following information: plans, elevations, sections (if available), site plan (if available), and the U-value requirement for external walls if known (if not known then consider whether you would like your walls to perform well, better, or best – this will give us a good guide to work from). 

Panels can only be purchased through our Delivery Partner network, for projects that have been designed and engineered using the Kingspan TEK Building System.

This varies depending on the size of the build, typically 80-100m² per week is constructed. An average home can be erected onsite in as little as 2-3 weeks.
